SHARE MAT Secondary RSHE Parent Consultation - January 2026
Following updated Department for Education statutory RSHE guidance (2025), Share MAT undertook a trust-wide parent consultation across its secondary and sixth-form academies.
The consultation aimed to secure meaningful parental engagement, gather evidence on curriculum priorities, understand perceived safeguarding and wellbeing risks, and inform curriculum review at both trust and academy level.
The consultation provides evidence that Share MAT:
- actively engages parents in curriculum development
- uses stakeholder feedback to refine curriculum intent and sequencing
- responds to safeguarding risks identified within its communities.
Findings from the consultation directly inform RSHE provision and support the trust’s wider approach to personal development and safeguarding.
The consultation was issued to all parents and guardians of secondary-aged students on 9th January 2026 and remained open for two weeks. It was delivered via Microsoft Forms.
It consisted of two sections:
- Section A: Parents’ views on the importance and timing of specific RSHE topics
- Section B: Parents’ perceptions of the likelihood of their child encountering key social, health, and safeguarding risks during the academic year
Quantitative data was analysed at trust level to identify overarching trends, with academy-level analysis undertaken by Personal Development Leaders to support local curriculum planning. A total of 788 responses were received, providing a strong and representative dataset. Any concerns raised by parents, including potential safeguarding issues, were passed to appropriate leaders and addressed.
The results of the consultation can be found in the file below.
