Millbridge Primary Academy celebrates a highly positive OFSTED report

Staff and pupils are celebrating the publication of an OFSTED report that confirms Millbridge is now ‘good’ in all areas. Inspectors visited the school on the 5th and 6th October and were impressed by the positive transformation that has taken place since their last visit.

The report notes that:

“Parents recognise the hard work that has been put in place to improve Millbridge and make it a happier place for pupils. Parents can see teachers have high expectations of what their children can achieve. They say teachers support their children well.”

It also states that ‘Pupils enjoy coming to school’ and how an ‘exciting curriculum is in place.’

The school had been placed in special measures before it joined Share Multi Academy Trust in 2014. Inspectors added that:

“The multi-academy trust and local governors are committed to continue making positive changes at Millbridge. This effective team takes the time to understand what needs to change and checks that it happens. The team has not shied away from looking outside of the school for ideas. The desire to have the best standards for pupils is at the forefront.”

Lauren McCaffrey, the Headteacher, said, “I am so incredibly proud of my team, our pupils and their families. Everyone has worked so hard and the inspection outcome reflects the huge amount of progress we have made.”

John McNally, CEO of SHARE MAT, added, ‘Lauren and her team have done a brilliant job at Millbridge. They have been supported superbly well by Michelle Lee, our Director of Primary Academies. I am delighted inspectors recognised what a happy and successful school it has become. They also understood our commitment to providing the very best standards for the children.’
